Jad was one of Greg's few friends during the time he spent in high school in Washington state. He passed away from a sudden onset illness in February 2007.[1]

History

Jad and Greg met sometime in high school. They eventually grew close, and started working on Gamer's Shadow together and later, Extreme Gaming Headquarters.

After graduating in 2004, Jad attended Pierce College and Brigham Young University. In 2005, he began a two year-long mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and traveled abroad to Japan and a number of other places.[1] Greg would often try to keep in touch during this time period, usually through email. Jad would write back to him in letters, as he was not allowed to send emails at the time.[2] Eventually, the two of them would fall out of touch.

Passing

At some point during his two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Jad fell ill very suddenly. He ultimately passed away in California from his illness in February 2007.[1]

Greg found out about his passing about 8 months later, in October of 2007 and seemed genuinely upset about it. In a blog post, Greg wrote that he felt that Jad was one of the few true friends in his life and that he regretted not being a better friend to him during the time they knew each other.[3]

Stones to Abbigale

Greg has said that the character Davis in Stones to Abbigale is based off a friend he had in high school that passed away. Jad is the only person Greg has previously mentioned that matches this criteria.
